Unexplained Fever

It seems most people in the Nashville area hate snow, but we aren't among them. We absolutely LOVE it! Everything about it. . . the way the atmosphere smells and falls silent, the grace in which it falls from the sky, and yes, even the way it rearranges our lives. It's quite romanic if you think about it! ;) Our neighborhood feels remarkably homey covered in white. . . All that to say, Jonah and I spent at least an hour today staring out our picture window in the livingroom. We were both mesmerized. . .
Jonah hasn't eaten well since Sunday. That usually indicates some sort of sickness, but he hasn't been symptomatic at all. No cough, no runny nose, no vomiting, and no fever. . . that is until tonight. He was extra clingy today, constantly wanting to be held and asking for "ba-bas" . . . I took his temp several times, and it was normal. However, after dinner I felt heat radiating from his little body, so I took it again and he had a fever of 101.1. I'm still not sure why. He has no other symptoms. . . I felt his gums to see if his 2 year molars were breaking (I don't think they are). . . If he's not teething, I would assume its viral since he just finished a round of preventative antibiotic for exposure to Pertussis. . . We've been so grateful lately for the lack of sickness in Jonah over the past several months. It seems most of our family and friends have battled illness, but he hasn't even had a runny nose since November. That's 3 well months in a row (even after vaccinations), which is quite a feat with a little one. I'm praying this fever is a fluke and nothing more will come of it. . .

Jonah taking his temp . . .
He had to check both ears. :) I wish I had a video of him taking it. After it beeped, he looked at it and said "sick" in such a definitive way. It was quite adorable! :)
And this is after the fever broke. His smile and energy returned. Amazing how much impact a temp can have on a child's personality!
